Ohh, Betsy!

Yes, please. October 26, 2009

One thing I’ve learned about my child and toys is that he is completely content with small-ticket items. Don’t get me wrong, he loves his big-ticket items but I marvel at how happy he is with a 2-inch plastic whale. He seems to latch on to one toy at a time. One that just makes him feel incomplete when he leaves it at home. We took him trick-0r-treating at a local park last Saturday. They set up small stations throughout the woods sponsored by various organizations. Near the end of the path, he happened upon the ultimate treat. Brandon caught this picture which I thought was hysterical considering that he now worships this odd little toy – a shark head with a fish in its mouth. It’s as if the shark head was delivered like manna from the heavens.

But I realized that I too get attached to new toys all the time. Well, maybe not toys but I have my fair share of favorite things that keep me happy. My latest?

Bounce Dryer Bar. If I had seen this in the grocery store, I highly doubt I would have purchased it. But, a friend gave me one and I L-O-V-E it. Basically, it’s a bar that sticks on the side of your dryer instead of using dryer sheets. It is supposed to between 2-4 months. I’m guessing mine will last at least four months.

Chex Mix Turtle Bars.  My, oh my. I really don’t care for granola bars too much. Blame it on the worm I found in one a few years ago. But these babies are my little indulgence.

So, what’s with my obsession with bars? Huh. Anyway…let’s move on to my favorite topic…entertainment.

Modern Family. The only trouble I have with this new show is that I can’t decide which character I love the most. The characters are so well-written and the actors are perfectly cast. It’s by far my favorite. (Yes, I like Glee just like the rest of the world but the truth be told, it kinda drags on sometimes.) You can watch all the episodes here.

Jim Gaffigan: King Baby. We got this DVD from Netflix because I heard that Jim Gaffigan is pretty funny. I literally thought I was going to have to turn it off because I was getting a headache from laughing so hard. I’m not much of a bacon fan, but after watching his show, I now love bacon if only for the principle of it all.

What is your latest?

We are so in love weith Modern family too and can’t wait for it every Wednesday night! It is hilarious!! I loved last week when the Dad (can’t think of his name) asked if he was attractive…and the boyfriend (can’t think of his name either) piped up with how “smokin’ hot” he was and rated him a 9, “But you knew that!”.

I’m obsessed with pandora.com at the moment. I will never surf without it. My favorite “station” is my Beautiful South, with lovely tones from the Housemartins, the Cure, and Coldplay serenading me through my housework. THe only problem is I’m not getting any cleaning done upstairs because I can’t hear the computer from there.

    oh- and that picture! adorable.

Oo, what a good idea for a post!
I watch Glee and mostly enjoy it, but I agree that it drags on. Plus, I was an eensy bit offended when they had a 10-week ultrasound showing the sex of the baby. Puh-lease. Are they assuming their audience is stupid?

Anyway, I love Modern Family, too. I think I like the Al Bundy guy and the Hispanic kid best so far, but it’s new, so that may change.

30 Rock is still my favorite 30min show, though. Man, it makes me laugh.

I TOTALLY thought the same thing about the ultrasound. And seriously, can the Cheerios wear something besides their cheerleader uniforms. We all understand that they are cheerleaders, they don’t have to wear them ALL. THE. TIME.

I love Manny (the kid) and Jay (formerly known as Al Bundy) but I think that I love Phil the most.

I am proud to announce that I officially stopped TiVo-ing Glee. I don’t think I laughed at it once. I really wanted to like it, but I honestly think it is just not a good show. I think it was trying too hard to “break the mold”, and therefore it just didn’t do it for me.

Love the pic of G! The shark costume is awesome!

Chex Mex Turtle Bars. MMMMMMMMMM, YUMMY!

I just love all forms of chex mex.

And Grant in his shark costume is one of my favorite things!

LOVE Modern Family! I agree about the fav character part. But I think my fav is the gay boyfriend (don’t remember his name). And the goofy dad, of course. Well, okay- I LOVE them all! There are just too many great lines that come out of it each week!! And the endings are not to be beat!!

    • Anna Says:

I think that Phil (the goofy dad) is probably my favorite. I love it when he says, “Well played, m’Lord, well played.” I think we might have laughing spasms if we hung out and recited lines from the show.

  8. Katherine Says:

Lee loves Gaffigan. He often quotes him especially his Hot Pocket piece. If you’re wondering if I quote him, that’s a no….!
